Visa Categories
Start with why you want to travel. Each purpose has its own route and requirements.
Tourist & Visit Visas
For holidays, family visits and a first taste of Europe.
Start with your itinerary, travel purpose and the consulate responsible for your application. Passport and travel history · Travel plan, accommodation and insurance · Funds and evidence of your return plans Schengen short visits are generally limited to 90 days in any 180 days. Your visa may allow less.
Study Visas
For a course, a degree or a new learning goal.
Choose the course first. Then check the visa route for that course and its length. Admission to an eligible course · Education and language evidence · Tuition, living costs and health cover A language course is not an automatic route to a job or residence. Work conditions depend on the permit.
Work Visas
Explore a route that fits your skills and a real job offer.
Review your occupation, qualifications and job offer against the chosen country’s rules. CV, qualifications and experience · Genuine employer and employment terms · Recognition or a licence where needed A visit visa does not by itself give permission to work. Nationality restrictions can apply to specific routes.
Business Visas
For meetings today or a business plan for tomorrow.
A short business visit and setting up a business are different routes. Be clear about your activities. Meeting invitation or business purpose · Business plan for entrepreneur routes · Budget and source of funds Attending meetings is different from working or running a business locally. Check the relevant permission.
Family Reunification
Understand the steps to join family already in Europe.
The route depends on your relationship and the status of the person you want to join. Relationship documents · Sponsor’s nationality and residence status · Income and accommodation where required Family eligibility, documents and rights differ by country and sponsor status.
Digital Nomad & Residency
Explore longer stays for remote work, income or investment.
Match your income, work arrangements or investment plans to a named residence programme. Income or qualifying investment evidence · Accommodation and insurance · Background checks and ongoing conditions Residence is not citizenship. A permit in one country does not automatically allow work across Europe.

08 / A LITTLE CLARITY
European Visa FAQs
In general, Schengen applications are made in the country where you legally reside. UAE residents should check the relevant consulate’s UAE process and proof of residence. Your passport and visa category still matter.
No. Europe is a continent. The Schengen Area is a group of countries with shared short-stay arrangements. National study, work and residence rules still differ.
Usually the country where you will spend the most time. If the stays are equal, apply to the first country you will visit. Check the official rules for your itinerary.
A short-stay visa does not by itself authorise local work. Business meetings and employment are different activities. Check the right national permission before accepting work.
A course does not automatically give you a work permit. Any later change requires a separate eligible route and the conditions in force at that time.
Plan for government and application-centre fees, course fees if relevant, insurance, translations, accommodation, living costs and travel. Ask for a clear service quote. Costs vary by route and can change.
No. Residence and citizenship are different. Citizenship has its own legal conditions. A residence permit does not give unrestricted work rights across all European countries.
No. Only the relevant government authority decides a visa or residence application. We do not guarantee approval, a processing time or a job.
